About Kumana National Park
This 35,664-sq-km park, once known as Yala East, is much less frequently visited than its busy neighbour, Yala National Park.
The Park is located in the Ampara district of Southeast Sri Lanka, at a distance of 391 kilometers from Colombo. Kumana National Park covers an area of about 35,664 hectare of land. This stunning National Park was reopened in March 2003 after it was closed in 1983 due to Civil War in Sri Lanka. The density of animals is middle, but it’s not rare to spot a leopards and bears, along with elephants, crocodiles, turtles, white cobras, wild buffalo and lot of birds..
And this park is the only national park in Sri Lanka where you can get away from the oppressive nature and enjoy a peaceful safari. Morning Safari – 5.30 am to 11. 30 am (Picking up and dropping off )
Evening Safari – 1.30 pm to 7.30 pm (Picking up and dropping off )

Unlike the half days drive, in a Full day safari the jeeps venture far inside the Jungle to give the best opportunity to see the best of Sri Lankan wildlife. These roads are very basic tracks and going is rough giving you the best viewing and game drive experience in a Sri Lankan National Park. The travelers have an option to order our both picnic breakfast and lunch packs. The Lunch break will be taken near the river or by The Kumana Tank, a cool box with snacks and water can be provide for Full day safari Tour.
Tour Itinerary
05.00 – 05.55 – Picked up from the hotel and drive to the park entrance
05.55 – 08.30 – Morning game drive
08.30 – 09.10 – Picnic Breakfast at near the ‘KumanaWillu Bird Watching Tower.
12.00 – 14.30 – At noon break near the river, you can have a river bath, Picnic Lunch, time to rest until evening safari. (Sometimes if we heard good news, we reaching for it during break)
14.30 – 18.00 – Evening game drive
19.00 – Departure & drop off to the hotel.

This facility will give you a unique experience. On safari, jeeps travel deep into the jungle to give you the best chance of seeing Sri Lanka’s best wildlife. These roads are very basic tracks and the ride is rugged giving you the best sightseeing and game drive experience in a Sri Lanka National Park. Tourists can have breakfast during our excursion.
